After nearly three beta releases of iOS 4.2 firmware, Apple has released iOS 4.2 final Gold Master (GM) for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad to developers. Those with developer account can download the iOS 4.2 GM. The public release expected this month will bring iOS on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
Apple released first beta of iOS 4.2 in the mid of September with features including Multitasking, Folders, Printing, Game Center for the iPad, second beta at the end of September with improved multi-tasking animation for iPad and additional YouTube options, while the third beta of iOS 4.2 was released few weeks ago on October 13th.
Features of iOS 4.2 Firmware Update
Apple’s iOS 4.2 includes AirPrint, allowing printing of text, photos and graphics wirelessly and AirPlay lets you stream media from your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Some of the Airplay options were modified in the third beta but they are now back to normal with system-wide redesigned controls in the multitasking tray.
Now that GM build has been released, it indicates the end of development cycle. The public release will be available in a week or so.
If you have a developer account, then only you will be able to download the GM build. To download and install iOS 4.2 without developer account, you will have to wait for the sometime!
Update on Jailbreak iOS 4.2 : You can use redsn0w 0.9.6 b2 to jailbreak iOS 4.2 but make sure you un-select Cydia option as itis not yet ready for iOS 4.2.
