Google unveiled the first notebook built and optimized for the web, Cr-48. The first Chrome OS based laptop from Google is not-so-powerful computing device, and are designed to deliver high web bsaed performance to the users to share with friends and family.
As listed by Google, some of the specs of Chrome OS Netbook – Cr-48:
Display: 12.1-inch LCD screen
Keyboard: Full-sized keyboard, without function keys & Caps lock
Build-in Wi-Fi and 3G
Battery: 8 hours of active usage
Eight days of standby time
Oversized clickpad
Google has plans to distribute the notebook to developers, regular users, business person and almost anyone through the Chrome OS Pilot Program. If you find it specs interesting, you can apply for the Google’s Chrome Notebook Pilot Program.
The retail Chrome notebooks will be available from Acer and Samsung, next year. The test notebooks have no branding on them and are only for software testing and feedback purpose.

Google also showcased an online marketplace to search from a wide range of extensions, themes and Apps for Google Chrome Web browser. Inspired from Apple’s App store, Chrome web store displays details of each App and allows users to read and write reviews & ratings for he Apps, making it easier to explore apps.

Apart from this, Google also announced that Google Chrome user base has increased from 40 to 120 million. Also, it is now twice as fast as before, thanks to Crankshaft, a new compilation infrastructure for V8, Chrome’s Javascript engine. Crankshaft has been introduced into the canary builds of Chrome!
