Download Safari 5 for Mac and Windows: Faster and Smarter
While the focus was more on iPhone 4 in WWDC, Steve Jobs made no mention of Safari 5. But, Apple has officially released full version of the browser in a press release, with a host of new features including improved HTML5 support, Safari Reader, performance improvement, Bing search and much more.

Here are the additional features of Safari 5:
Safari Reader: Removes distractions like annoying ads from a webpage so that you get a clutter-free view of the article. Additional features include onscreen controls to email, print, zoom and change the size of the text.
Greater HTML5 Support: A dozen of new features allowing developers to create interactive content and media without third-party plugins, from the browser iteslf. Full-screen HTML5 video support to watch embedded HTML5 videos in full screen and geolocation support to get helpful information by sharing your location.
Better Performance: A faster Nitro Javascript engine for faster browsing experience. DNS prefetching and improved caching, that reduces the loading time of pages resulting in better performance of the browser.
Safari Extensions: Developers get to create extensions for customized web experience on Safari 5. Similar to the features of existing Browsers like Firefox and Chrome. Create extensions and submit them to Safari Extensions Gallery from where, users can download them.
Bing Search: Another search option added to Safari’s list of built-in search engines which already includes Google and Yahoo!
Other Features: Smart address fields for auto-completion of url’s already visited, Tabs Setting to open new web pages in new tabs rather than new window, Hardware Acceleration for windows to provide smooth and speedy browsing experience and much more.

Bing Search inclusion is a nice move, also extension addition just make it good competitor on Firefox and Chrome but Safari still slower than other main stream browsers.
As per apple, safari5 is faster than ff and chrome. Havn't used it yet, but will install it in some time. I like the extensions feature too! Thanks for the comment!
