Gmail has a knack for filtering junk and spam better than other email services. It is always a big down side when you open your mailbox and see many unread mails. Most of them can be pretty much the stuff that you would tear away and throw in the bin had it been on hard paper. It is time consuming to figure out what needs to be read and what needs a reply.

Priority Inbox – an experimental new way of taking on information overload in Gmail. In a way, Priority Inbox is like your personal assistant, helping you focus on the messages that matter without requiring you to set up complex rules.
As of now there was option of mark important emails as star or add labels to incoming emails. Labels helped in organizing mailbox but all the incoming and unread mail still came in the chronological order, the order in which you have received them the latest being on top. But now you will see the most important ones on top of your mailbox, automatically!

People have always been demanding for prioritizing in social networking, where they can put those people in higher priority whom they know pretty well and would like to be informed about their activities.
For priority inbox in Gmail, users are coming up with mixed reviews. While some are excited others don’t feel that this service would do much good. Some have also reported a failure of mail coming in priority order as set by them, calling it “horrible”. These bugs can be accepted as the service is yet in beta stage and Google would be trying very hard to perfect it.
