Google has released the the URL shortner goo.gl to public; declaring it as the stablest, most secure, and web’s fastest URL shortner! Initially introduced with the services like Google Toolbar and Feedburner, the public release is available through a website where users can shorten url’s easily.
Entering the business of URL shortners, google has issued a red alarm for the existing url shortners including bit.ly, ow.ly and j.mp. Although, not many features are available with goo.gl right now, except that the brand name Google makes it much more reliable and safe than any other existing url shortner, it also allows you to view real-time analytics data of the url’s shortened by you, once you sign-in to your google account.
Using goo.gl URL Shortner from Website or with Extensions
Start using the Google url Shortner (goo.gl) by visiting goo.gl from your browser and quickly shortening url’s. To keep a track of the shortened url’s, make sure you are signed-in to your Google Account before shortening url’s. You can also use the url shortner with browser extensions; goo.gl Google Chrome and goo.gl Firefox Add-on!
Google is planning to release the official API for goo.gl in future that will enable users to shorten URLs, expand URLs, and view analytics from directly within the applications they are using!
If you share a lot of links, then you may like to switch over to goo.gl, expecting that Google adds more features to it soon!

I don’t think goo.gl can succeed unless they integrate some unique features.
