Workspaces in linux OS make the organisation of desktop much easier, allowing you to manage which applications are available on your screen. You can switch between them at any time, with each workspace containing same desktop, panels, and same menus, but all workspaces have same wallpaper.
How to Set Different Wallpapers on each workspace
For this tutorial you need to have CompizConfig Settings Manager on your system and you should install avant window navigator for navigation purposes because after doing this you will not have link on to your desktop.
Here is the complete tutorial to
- Install Avant Window Navigator and,
- Customize Lucido Avant Window Navigator (AWN) with icon sets for 3D styles.
Here goes the rest of the tutorial:
#1. Open CompizConfig Settings Manager [System>>Preferences>>CompizConfig Settings Manager]
#2. Now select “Wallpapers” under the “Utility” section.
#3. Under Backgrounds tab select different wallpapers of your choice for each workspaces.
Tip: Download All official Ubuntu and Fedora Wallpapaers
#4. Now close CompizConfig Settings Manager and press Alt+f2 . Here type “gconf-editor” as in the screenshot.
Go under: Apps>>Nautilus>>Preferences and uncheck the “show_desktop” option just like in screenshot.
