Google announced safe mode for the youtube users to filter out potentially objectionable content, that you may not wish to see or, you donot want your family members to have a look at, while surfing videos on the most popular video sharing website Youtube.
The objectionable content may be some violent videos, displaying protests or video coverage from battle ground. We all know that youtube already has an adult video filter, that will let the user know, if a video is suitable for minors or not. The new feature is like parental control switch that filters out irrelevant content.
For your information, google also provides a similar feature in its search engine, where users can opt-in or opt-out of safe search mode, which filters out objectionable content, when enabled.
Google makes an important point to its users-
And remember, ALL content must still comply with our Community Guidelines. Safety Mode isn’t fool proof, but it provides a greater degree of control over your YouTube experience.
Google is rolling out the safe mode to its users and one can easily locate it at the bottom of any video page. You can enable safe mode temporarily for a particular session, or permanently for your account.
If a user is not logged in, then this feature can be temporarily enabled, but, one can permanently enable “safe mode” by signing in, enabling and locking the feature.

With a variety of content available at one place, one is easily mislead and being unable to control oneself or the content, you may get directed to a wrong path. Safe mode may not fully solve this purpose, but will provide you with the ability to have complete control over the content that you or your family members see on youtube!
