Skype 5.0 Beta for Windows with 10-way Group Video Calling

Watching Google’s implementation of VOIP calling; calling from gmail has surely hit some nerves for the popular VOIP calling software giant Skype. As a result, an immediate update to Skype 5.0 has been pushed in form of another beta. But, as most of you would expect, the current beta update is available for windows only!

Prominent Features of Skype 5.0 Beta Update

Skype has been focusing on enhancing its Video calling functionality since the last beta release or so. The upgrade focuses on changes in call view and other features as listed below:

  • 10-way group video calling
  • Skype Home experience
  • Offline instant messaging
  • New contact search and add experience
  • Enhanced call experience under problematic conditions
  • Post call experience
  • General User Interface refresh

10-way Group Video Calls with Skype 5.0

Skype 5.0 beta 1 for windows saw 5-way group video calling facility, which has been enhanced to 10-way group video call in this upgrade. This allows you to have group video call with 9 other Skype users! You must go through the system requirements before you even smile;

System Requirements:

Making a 10-way group video call requires a very fast computer, the minimum system requirements for is Intel Core2duo 2 GHz CPU or equivalent, the recommended CPU is Intel i7.
Minimum required network bandwidth is 1 mbit/s and recommended network speed is 5 mbit/s.
