Streamtuner 2.0: The Internet Radio Browser Gets Better UI & Favicons

Those of you, who are not familiar to Streamtuner, an internet radio browser, it is used to play internet radio from various online radio streaming stations. A linux application, previously featured on techtickle along with Streamripper to record music from any streaming radio station. The developer is getting ready with a new release of Streamtuner 2 very soon.

Fixing up previous bugs (specially the Shoutcast related issues), skin and settings, the developer has launched a pre-release of streamtuner 2. The look and feel of previous version has been copied, although some improvements have been made in the user interface. Previously written in “C language”, the new version has been rewritten in python, thus consumes greater amount of memory now.

Streamtuner 2 has support for st1 plugins written in python and “script” plugins that capture to pure web stations. A console-only mode to export stations list is also available. The best feature is the loading of favicons along with the stations.

You can download the pre-release from the links below, or wait for a stable version to come out. But, those of you who are experiencing problems with the loading of Shoutcast stations, this release does it like a charm! Happy streaming !
