FIFA World Cup 2010 fever is catching up all over the world, and this time its on the micro-blogging website Twitter! Previously we told you how Google is gearing up for the World Cup, and different ways you can watch the biggest sporting event on the planet. The event has created a Buzz on media channels, sports industry and among friends as well.

To add to the amazing news, twitter.com has created a special website on FIFA World Cup 2010. The website consists of widgets and real-time searches that captures the spirit of World Cup on Twitter as well. From the official twitter blog:
Fans have a unique opportunity to connect with players, teams, and brands using Twitter to join the matches in a new way. We also are providing a list of suggested accounts to follow during the tournament and a World Cup theme for your profile page. We’ll leave it up to you to learn how to do the neat little trick we’re calling hashflags.

Join the supporters by searching them in 5 Directories to Follow Awesome Twitter Lists!
By clicking on view match, you can see the real time stats from the supporters of two teams. If that’s not enough for you, then you can support your favourite teams by using hashflags. Like #ESP for Spain, #BRA for Brazil, #RSA for South Africa will create a the flag of respective countries after their hashtags in your tweets. Also, the Official hashtag #WorldCup will create a football next to the hashtag in your tweet!
