Sometimes, situations may arrive that you need to install a Linux distribution on your system but, your DVD-ROM is not working or possibly you do not have much time to burn the ISO file on to a DVD. But don’t be hopeless in these situations as we all are living in open source world and many people are working for you to work out all your problems.
Here i have a solution for you guys to resolve these kind of situations.
How to install most of the Linux distributions over pen drive -
After hours of Surfing, i have found a utility called Unetbootin that will make your task easier. It can install most of the Linux distributions on the pen drive. It also has the capability of installing a distribution directly from internet or you can install your custom Linux by giving its kernel, initrd files and other optional files as well. It works on both Windows and Linux and most importantly it is completely free of cost. You can load lot more other things using it, visit HOMEPAGE for more information and downloads.
Download latest Unetbootin for Linux here
You will get a Unetbootin binary file. To simply run it use this command in the Terminal -
[stextbox id="black" caption="Run Unetbootin"]sudo ./unetbootin-linux-377[/stextbox]
( Where unetbootin-linux-377 is the binary file you have downloaded. Yours may have different file name. I assumed that you have saved your binary file in your home folder for the above command)
Here are some screenshots -

Let us know, if you have ever been in such a situation and ever used this utility? Which other utilities have you tried in such situations?
