project falcon uTorrent Web Interface and Streaming Service Opens to PublicDevelopers at BitTorrent have been working on uTorrent Labs to introduce a new feature to their uTorrent client that ensures a Secure web access and adds On-demand streaming under the project named Project Falcon. This feature was introduced in January on invite bases to check and after months of testing and feedback from the community, it has been made available to all the users in form of public beta.

Project Falcon is a part of several projects that BitTorrent started under uTorrent Labs, in order to make its client more than just a standard downloading client.

Secure web access feature provides a simple and secure service allowing users to access and manage their uTorrent clients using Web Browsers, through an online interface. All they need to do is create a username and try it out. Privacy and security is guaranteed by BitTorrent, such that its usage is not exposed to anyone else.

On-demand streaming allows you to stream your video files, while downloading them. BitTorrent downloads files in a random order, in many pieces. This makes it difficult to view the files before they are completely downloaded on one’s system. To enable on-demand streaming, few pieces of file are sent in-order once the download is started allowing playback of the content quickly.

Project Falcon is one of the several projects that were started as a part of uTorrent Labs few weeks ago, where users can download early versions of product and provide feedback. uTorrent is also working on making torrent search easy for its users.
